The "Midnight in São Paulo" illustration represented a turning point for me, a switch towards a better comprehension of the cities behind my drawings.
The big city vibe, the enormous apartment buildings covered in expressive graffiti, and the Avenida Paulista's never-ending agitation made me restless. I was curious to understand the politics and the messages hidden in the impressive mural paintings, to discover how artists unveil their voices and political views. São Paulo is a city where art finds its way on the streets as a form of expression.
Casa das Rosas, the famous constructions created by the architect Oscar Niemeyer, the theater, the cathedral, the effervescence of the vibrant neighborhood of Vila Madalena all found a place in my illustration. And in my heart, as I will never forget my adventures and the lovely people I met.
